PIE & AI: Lebanon’s Deep Learners Meetup 2020

The second deeplearning.ai meetup in Lebanon was hosted on 22 February at CIS College Bint Jbeil by AI Readiness program in Lebanon which is a brand of Rebaie Analytics Group. This meetup is the kick start of building an AI hub in Lebanon and gathering AI and data enthusiasts and building the AI community in Lebanon.

The meetup started with a welcome video from the deeplearning.ai team, followed by demystifying AI terminology and talking about Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, after that there was an open discussion about the future of work and how Artificial Intelligence is shaping almost every industry, also the attendees shared their thoughts about the impact of AI technologies on their career path. After that, we showcased the types of Machine Learning algorithms and Deep Learning algorithm and how do they work, and we gave examples on each in the real world, also attendees interacted through solving simple use cases with Machine Learning and Deep Learning, and we solved a Linear Regression task. Then we showed the attendees some AI use cases in real world applications, such as facial recognition in Facebook, Speech recognition in Whatsapp, virtual reality headsets, recommender systems, self-driving vehicles, digital twins technology, and intelligent robots. Moving to AI trends, we talked about using knowledge graphs, AI applications in healthcare and how we can apply AI systems to business industries. At the end, we distribute the print out papers about deeplearning.ai online program including AI for everyone course, Deep Learning specialization and Tensorflow in Practice specialization, also we encouraged attendees to take deeplearning.ai courses at Coursera with discount on courses for them.
